Description

Reporting To: Project Lead

Job Purpose:

  • Global ID  and Artemis Outsourcing are conducting the piloting of a multi-view vein-based biometric patient authentication system for the Kenya Health Information System. The Software Engineer / Infrastructure Support Officer will be responsible for providing technical support, ensuring system functionality, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and supporting the integration of the biometric system into various Health Information Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line technical support for software and hardware-related issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve system performance issues and errors.
  • Assist in setting up and configuring biometric authentication devices.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure.
  • Support the integration of the biometric system with HIS.
  • Assist in testing and evaluating system functionality.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure software updates and patches are applied timely.
  • Train healthcare staff on system usage and troubleshooting basics.
  • Provide ongoing support to end-users and escalate complex issues as necessary.
  • Maintain logs of technical issues and resolutions.
  • Prepare regular reports on system performance and support activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT support, software engineering, or infrastructure management.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
  • Experience with biometric authentication systems is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with Kenya’s Health Information System (KHIS) and digital health technologies is desirable.
